ABOUT THE Ravens: The NFL's No. 2 defense is led by three Pro Bowlers, including playmaking S Ed Reed and MLB Ray Lewis, who registered 160 tackles. Rookie QB Joe Flacco directed a run-heavy attack that slashed its giveaways significantly while the Ravens won nine of their final 11 games. Flacco threw for 232 yards in a 27-13 triumph Oct. 19 at Dolphin Stadium.
ABOUT THE Dolphins: Miami boasts a 15-6 record in home postseason games, and the Dolphins led the league with a plus-17 turnover ratio. Chad Pennington, the NFL's second-ranked passer, earned the Comeback Player of the Year honor, and Pro Bowl RB Ronnie Brown scored 10 TDs. LB Joey Porter resurrected his career with an AFC-high 17.5 sacks, and special teams are solid.
KEY STAT: Flacco posted a higher passer rating on third down (86.3) and in the fourth quarter (89.8) than Pennington.
KEY MATCHUP: Ravens Pro Bowl FB Le'Ron McClain vs. Porter, blitzing off the edge.
