PRO FOOTBALL: WEEK 12 BREAKDOWN

PRO FOOTBALL: WEEK 12 BREAKDOWN
Adam Jones said he was shedding his nickname in the hopes of revamping his image. He said he wanted to concentrate on providing the Dallas Cowboys with an impact cornerback. Then came the untimely return of "Pacman" in an alcohol-related scuffle with one of the bodyguards the Cowboys provided to keep him out of trouble. The NFL suspended him again. But the former Westlake High star is getting another chance after commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated him Wednesday. He will be allowed to return Dec. 7. But, when he comes back, he'll have to stay trouble-free on his own. There'll be no more Cowboy bodyguards.

Eagles at Ravens

* 1 p.m.

Yes, Philadelphia quarterback Donovan McNabb knows this could end up in a tie after last week's debacle in Cincinnati produced --- surprise! --- the NFL's first draw in six years. The Eagles (5-4-1) tied the Ravens in 1997, so McNabb should be doubly aware. Meanwhile, the Ravens (6-4) try to recover from last week's loss to the Giants.

Jets at Titans

* 1 p.m.

The best game of the day. The Titans (10-0) have had to dig deep to maintain their perfect record. Last week, they had to bounce back from an 11-point deficit on the road to beat the Jaguars. The Jets (7-3) have shown they can blow a big lead and still win, as the Patriots might remember from just one week ago. So the Titans had better beware.

Giants at Cardinals

* 4:15 p.m.

Brandon Jacobs likely won't play for the Giants (9-1) this week after hurting a knee vs. the Ravens last week. Meanwhile, the Cardinals (7-3) could clinch a tie for the NFC West title with an upset win and a 49ers loss. The question is, can the Cardinals get wide receiver Anquan Boldin his touches against the Giants' second-ranked pass defense?

Colts at Chargers

* 8:15 p.m.

The Chargers (4-6) beat the Colts (6-4) in the AFC playoffs last season, when San Diego had Michael Turner leading the way. But he's in Atlanta now, and the Chargers' chances to win this game might have gone South with him. They've split their past two games --- both decided by one point. Meanwhile, after a rough start, the Colts have won three straight.

THE OTHER WEEK 12 GAMES

Game; Comment

Texans at Browns; Steve Slaton could outdo his season-high 156 rushing yards against the Browns.

Buccaneers at Lions; Desperate for a win, the Lions may remember their last game with the Bucs, which they won.

Bills at Chiefs; Neither has a win in a month of Sundays --- the Bills have lost four straight, the Chiefs six.

Bears at Rams; Matt Forte needs seven catches to become the third in the Bears' 1,000-yard, 50-catch club.

Patriots at Dolphins; Don't expect Pats coach Bill Belichick to get blindsided by Miami twice in the same season.

Vikings at Jaguars; As the weather gets colder, Maurice Jones-Drew gets hotter, with six November touchdowns.

49ers at Cowboys; Tony Romo rescued the Cowboys last week. They can't afford to lose to this underdog.

Raiders at Broncos; The Raiders would love to avenge a Week 1 rout, but their 2-8 team shows little promise.

Redskins at Seahawks; Coach Jim Zorn tries to halt his team's two-game skid in Seattle, where he got his pro start.

Packers at Saints (Monday); If turnover ratios count, Green Bay (plus-7) will have the edge over the Saints (minus-5).
