Yamon Figurs has taken over for the Ravens as the team's No. 3 receiver. Demetrius Williams was placed on injured reserve last week.

Samari Rolle is expected to return at cornerback after missing six games with a neck injury. The Ravens are expected to start Rolle and Fabian Washington at cornerback.

Meanwhile, cornerback Chris McAlister (knee), who did not practice Wednesday, is seeking another opinion with a specialist in Canada. Harbaugh said it's getting "close" for the Ravens to make a decision on whether to place safety Dawan Landry (neck) on injured reserve.

The Ravens also re-signed No. 3 quarterback Todd Bouman and added safety Daren Stone, who was cut by the Dallas Cowboys on Oct. 28. The team waived receiver Ernie Wheelwright and cornerback Anwar Phillips (who was put on the practice squad).

PLAYER NOTES

--WR Mark Clayton posted a game-high seven catches for 86 yards in his only game against the Texans. He set up Matt Stover's game-winning field goal with a 35-yard catch.

--WR Derrick Mason has averaged 3.75 catches and 57.6 yards receiving in eight games against Houston. He has five touchdowns against the Texans.

--RB Willis McGahee ran for 117 yards on 22 carries in his only meeting against Houston.

--CB Samari Rolle has four interceptions and one fumble recovery (returned for a touchdown) in six games against the Texans.

--LB Terrell Suggs recorded a career-best three sacks in his only game against Houston. He also had six tackles and one forced fumble.

GAME PLAN: The Ravens know they have to get pressure on Sage Rosenfels, who will start at quarterback in place of Matt Schaub. Rosenfels is accurate but can get forced into making mistakes. In six quarters of play this season, he has turned the ball over four times (two interceptions and two fumbles).

Offensively, the Ravens will test Houston's 23rd-ranked run defense. Expect the Ravens to rotate between Willis McGahee, Ray Rice and Le'Ron McClain. This is the game when the Ravens want to be physical at the line and control the clock.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Ravens pass defense vs. Texans WR Andre Johnson. Coming off one of his worst games of the season, Johnson is facing the NFL's fourth-ranked pass defense. But Johnson should have a solid chance to bounce back. The Ravens secondary is banged up and is playing over its head. Their two starting cornerbacks -- Fabian Washington and Samari Rolle (who is returning after missing six games with a neck injury) -- aren't physical enough to handle Johnson. Last Sunday, Cleveland Browns receiver Braylon Edwards had four catches for 86 yards and a touchdown. He should have had more but he dropped a sure touchdown pass. In four home games this season, Johnson has averaged 10.3 catches for 148.3 yards.

Ravens QB Joe Flacco vs. Texans pass defense. The Ravens have begun to open up the playbook for Flacco, who is becoming more aggressive downfield. He should deliver more big plays and touchdowns against the Texans, who looked vulnerable at the Minnesota Vikings. In his last three games, Flacco has completed 60.5 percent of his throws for 620 yards and four touchdowns. He hasn't thrown an interception in 88 passes. His rating over the past three weeks (104.1) ranks sixth in the NFL over that time. Houston has the 14th-ranked pass defense, but the Texans got beat up by Vikings quarterback Gus Frerotte (182 yards passing and three touchdowns).

INJURY IMPACT: SS Dawan Landry (neck) is out for the seventh straight game. Ravens coach John Harbaugh said it's getting "close" for the Ravens to consider placing Landry on injured reserve. He will be replaced by Jim Leonhard.

--CB Chris McAlister (knee) did not practice Wednesday and has been declared out by coach John Harbaugh. He is seeking another opinion by a specialist in Canada. He might need season-ending surgery. He would be replaced by Fabian Washington.

--RB Willis McGahee (ankle) was limited in practice but is expected to play. He might not start but he should receive double-digit carries.

--RB Ray Rice (chest) was limited in practice but it's not considered serious. He is coming off a game where he had a season-high 21 carries.

--CB Samari Rolle (neck) was limited in practice but he is expected to return after missing six games.

--OT Jared Gaither (knee and neck) was limited but is expected to start.

--OT Adam Terry (knee) was limited but is expected to play.

--DL Brandon McKinney (shoulder) was limited but is expected to play.

--LB Bart Scott (chest) was limited but is expected to start.

--TE Daniel Wilcox (thigh) was limited but is expected to play.
