Baltimore Ravens Notes, Quotes 2008-12-26
--Ravens punter Sam Koch, one of the team's Pro Bowl snubs, did earn some recognition, receiving his first AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award. He averaged 52.2 yards on five punts at Dallas and converted a fourth-and-6 with a 9-yard run on a fake field goal.

"A Pro Bowl would have been really nice, but (being named) AFC Player of the Week is still thanks, too," he said.

--Koch will be the first Raven announced in Sunday's regular-season finale along with the other specialists on special teams. The five Pro Bowl players -- linebacker Ray Lewis, defensive end/linebacker Terrell Suggs, safety Ed Reed, running back Le'Ron McClain and special teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo -- will follow them.

--There will be a halftime ceremony Sunday honoring the 50th anniversary of the Baltimore Colts' 1958 NFL championship team, which beat the New York Giants in what would become known as "The Greatest Game Ever Played." Fifteen players from that Colts team are scheduled to attend.

--The coaches and players were given off Thursday for Christmas. Ravens coach John Harbaugh switched Thursday's practice to Tuesday, the players' normal day off.

--The local media voted free safety Ed Reed and linebacker Terrell Suggs as the team's Most Valuable Player and media Good Guy, respectively.

--The Ravens were cognizant of the speculation that they were hand-picked by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones as Dallas' final opponent at Texas Stadium. "I think it was an interesting rumor that we heard," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "Certainly, we had some fun with it."

--Harbaugh said rookie kicker Steve Hauschka was deactivated Saturday night so cornerback Evan Oglesby could add depth against the Cowboys' receiving corps.

--Harbaugh's father, Jack, who won the 2002 NCAA Division I-AA football championship as the head coach at Western Kentucky, attended his son's news conference Monday.

--The Ravens are 9-2 when losing the coin toss.

--The Ravens lead the NFL with 24 interceptions this season. Baltimore has at least one interception in 13 of 15 games this season.

BY THE NUMBERS: 51 -- Ravens wins at home since 2000, which is the third most in the NFL over that time.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "There are concerns among coaches and among players about any kind of change. We're definitely creatures of habit. We just felt like the value of getting people with their families overrode that." -- Ravens coach John Harbaugh, on changing his team's schedule to give the players off on Christmas.
