--The Ravens were unable to reach an extension with defensive end-linebacker Terrell Suggs before the NFL deadline.
Suggs, 25, will earn $8.5million this season as a hybrid defensive end-linebacker.
He has yet to sign the tag, which technically means he is not under contract and would allow him to skip training camp without penalty or fine.
Suggs told The Sun in February that he has yet to decide whether he would hold out of training camp, which begins July 24 for veterans. He did not practice at any of the minicamps this offseason.
"At this point, I don't know," Suggs said five months ago. "I love my teammates, and I want to be there for them. Before I make a decision, I'll talk to a lot of people. I'll confide in Ray Lewis and Ed Reed, see what they think I should do and what is best for everybody."
--The Ravens are unlikely to show interest in acquiring retired Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre.
The team is set to hold an open competition among Troy Smith, Kyle Boller and Joe Flacco in training camp.
Two seasons ago, the Ravens went the veteran route, trading a fourth-round pick for Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair. He went 13-3 in his first season before injuries ruined his second one. The Ravens had expected to get one more season out of McNair to ease the transition to a young quarterback, but he abruptly retired in April.
--Strong safety Tom Zbikowski, a third-round pick, needs to shed a few pounds. Zbikowski said he weighs 209 pounds. He'll be between 200 and 205 when training camp opens.
"Right now, I would say he is a little stiff, but that will get better once he gets his weight down," defensive coordinator Rex Ryan said. "We know he can run a straight line; now we want to see him change direction a little bit more."
QUOTE TO NOTE: "We view him like Ed Reed, Todd Heap, Ray Lewis and Jonathan Ogden. He is one of those guys that we want to keep a Raven." -- General manager Ozzie Newsome on looking to sign Terrell Suggs to a contract extension.
