Baltimore Ravens Notes, Quotes 2008-10-03
--Preparation for Sunday's game against the Titans began last week, and this week should be business as usual -- except for some slight alterations, first-year coach John Harbaugh said.

"I wouldn't say we're going to lighten the load," he said. "The workload's going to have to be the same because we have to get ready to play a very good team, and the challenges are the same. We may change up drills, tempo drills and things like that as far as coming off of a physical game and making sure we are recovered as much as we can be. But the workload itself will be the same."

Harbaugh said he didn't think he would have to talk to the players about not dwelling on the loss to the Steelers.

"It's a big challenge, but I think it's something that guys in the NFL learn how to do. They move on pretty quickly," he said. "We'll probably be looking back at the game or the fans will certainly be looking back at the game for a couple of days, but the players are already over it, and they've already moved on to Tennessee. You have to."

--Harbaugh said he "can definitely envision" quarterback Troy Smith playing this season, but he wouldn't define Smith's role. "He's going to be on the field for us this year, in some form or fashion for sure," Harbaugh said.

--Harbaugh said the Ravens didn't lose their cool, but they were flagged for three personal fouls (two were offsetting) and an unnecessary roughness penalty. As a result, the Ravens finished with a season-high eight penalties for 72 yards.

The biggest miscue came in the third quarter when the Ravens were ahead 13-3. After an eight-yard catch by Steelers wide receiver Nate Washington, Ravens linebacker Jarret Johnson was flagged for unnecessary roughness when he shoved wide receiver Hines Ward.

Three plays later, Ben Roethlisberger completed a pass to wide receiver Santonio Holmes, which started Pittsburgh's comeback.

Under former coach Brian Billick, critics pointed to Ravens personal fouls as a lack of discipline.

"The personal foul out of bounds was in a gray area in my mind," Harbaugh said. "That's a guy playing hard, and you'd like a better decision made. But that's a heat-of-battle penalty."

--Linebacker Bart Scott was visibly displeased with himself after Monday's game for not taking down Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger for the second time.

Roethlisberger shook off Scott's sack attempt and connected with wide receiver Hines Ward for a 49-yard gain that led to 19-yard field goal by Jeff Reed to give Pittsburgh a 20-13 lead with 9:19 left in the fourth quarter.

"I've just got to keep my head and play fundamentally sound," Scott said. "He goes down just like everybody else."

BY THE NUMBERS: 9 -- Games in the 17-game history between the Ravens and the Titans that have been decided by three points or less.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "It's like anyone who has a bad day. You just kick the photocopier and get back to work." -- Offensive tackle Adam Terry, on the line rebounding after allowing five sacks last game.
