Baltimore Ravens Notes, Quotes 2008-09-10
--Mark Clayton's 42-yard, double-reverse touchdown scamper was only the second rushing touchdown of his career -- and the longest.

Along the way, the wide receiver got some help from rookie quarterback Joe Flacco, who sent linebacker Dhani Jones stumbling to the turf to clear a path for Clayton.

"It looked good in practice, and it certainly looked good today," Clayton said. "Coach tells us if you don't have the ball, you're a blocker, and that goes for all 11 (players). Everybody was able to make some good blocks, and I was able to get the ball in the end zone."

--Baltimore native and Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony was the honorary captain during the coin toss before the season opener.

"It's a big deal to be at the Ravens' first game," said Anthony, who brought the gold medal he won as part of the victorious U.S. men's basketball team. "I never thought I would be here for the coin toss. You can't ask for nothing better than that."

--Baltimore improved to 14-11 all-time against Cincinnati, including a 10-3 mark at home as the Ravens snapped a three-game losing streak to the Bengals.

--The Ravens deactivated quarterback Troy Smith (illness), offensive tackle Willie Anderson, linebacker Tavares Gooden, offensive tackle Oniel Cousins, offensive guard David Hale, wide receiver Marcus Smith (separated right shoulder), cornerback Evan Oglesby and nose tackle Kelly Gregg (left knee).

--The Ravens' game captains were linebackers Ray Lewis and Brendon Ayanbadejo and wide receiver Derrick Mason.

--A pair of former Ravens, offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden and Mike Flynn, watched part of the game from the press box.
