Baltimore Ravens Notes, Quotes 2009-04-10
--Rookies, quarterbacks and selected veterans will report to Ravens training camp July 27, the team announced. The rest of the team will arrive at McDaniel College on July 29.

The Ravens have scheduled 25 days of practice before moving back to team headquarters in Owings Mills. This marks the 14th year that the Ravens have held training camp in Westminster.

The Ravens' preseason opener is Aug. 13 against the Washington Redskins at M&T Bank Stadium.

--The Ravens have added two coaches to John Harbaugh's staff, promoting Roy Anderson to defensive assistant and hiring Matt Weiss as head coaching assistant, the team announced.

Anderson, 29, spent three years as a player personnel assistant and last year split time between personnel and the coaching staff. He worked primarily as a coaching assistant with the defensive line but also compiled self-scouting reports and did computer game-planning.

This season, Anderson will continue to work under defensive line coach Clarence Brooks while handling defensive quality-control duties that include self-scouting, analyzing game film and breaking down opponent tendencies.

Weiss, 26, joins the Ravens from Stanford, where he served three years as a graduate assistant and one year as quality-control coach under coach Jim Harbaugh, John's brother.

Weiss will help John Harbaugh with administrative duties and serve as quality-control coach on defense.

--The Ravens' 2009 home opponents are: the three AFC North teams (Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Cleveland), Chicago, Detroit, Denver, Kansas City and Indianapolis. Their road opponents are: the three AFC North teams (Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Cleveland), Green Bay, Minnesota, San Diego, Oakland and New England.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "As a leader, you're always looking for the look in the man's eyes when he's on the cusp of getting an opportunity that could define his career. There was something in John's eyes that told me, if given the opportunity, he wouldn't disappoint. I can't elaborate any further." -- Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti on why he chose John Harbaugh as his coach last season.
