10 possible destinations for Favre
I'm husky.

I don't own a pair of Wrangler jeans.

And the last time I played quarterback, I shredded my left knee in a pick-up game (on my high school practice field, no less).

Next stop?

Brett FavreBrett Favre wants his release from the Packers. So where will he end up? Alex Marvez has a few ideas. Click here.

Still, Brett Favre and I have something in common: a size 14 shoe (Nike's, in my case). So in this column, I'm going to place myself inside his cleats and ponder the following question: If I don't want to play in Green Bay by coming out of retirement, where do I want to go?

While seeing him in anything but a yellow-and-gold uniform will be awkward — think Jerry Rice in Seattle — Favre won't be lacking suitors should Packers brass honor his request to play elsewhere. If I'm Favre, I'm looking for a combination of four things from my next stop — comfort, money, a starting spot and a legitimate chance to win Super Bowl XLIII.

Here are 10 teams that Favre should be longing to play for most, as well as potential trade compensation for the Packers, should the two sides part ways:

1. Tampa Bay

The Panthers have remained steadfast in their belief that Jake Delhomme will make a full recovery from an elbow-ligament surgery that previously derailed the NFL careers of Craig Erickson and Rob Johnson. But the possibility of adding Favre could prompt Carolina to reconsider that position, especially with head coach John Fox and general manager Marty Hurney fighting for their jobs in 2008.

Trade possibility: Just for kicks, how about Julius Peppers? The Packers have more cap room to spend on a long-term contract than Carolina, which risks losing the star defensive end to free agency in 2009.

8. Baltimore

Agent Bus Cook, who is seemingly trying to mastermind Favre's Packers exodus, also represented recently retired Ravens quarterback Steve McNair. Maybe Cook will try to orchestrate another Ravens signing, although the Ravens seem set with Kyle Boller and rookie Joe Flacco. If Baltimore's scoring defense returns to form (it was 27th in the NFL last season), Favre would be surrounded by enough offensive talent to make a playoff run.

Trade possibilities: Because the Ravens aren't deep in established talent, draft picks are the most likely route.

9. Detroit

Largely projected as a non-playoff team again this season, Favre would surely be reticent to join a franchise with such a losing tradition. But team ownership may be willing to overpay for Favre to help spur sagging ticket sales. There are worse spots to play. The Lions have some firepower in Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson. Favre also is comfortable inside Ford Field, having completed a Packers record with 20 consecutive passes in last Thanksgiving's win over the Lions.

Trade possibilities: See Chicago.

10. Miami

Inexplicably, this franchise continues to surface on the rumor mill as being a potential player for Favre (see Dolphins blogs at South Florida newspaper sites for more details). With 47 new players on the roster already, Dolphins executive Bill Parcells will need some time to construct a winning roster. Signing with the Dolphins would only make sense if Farve wants to play for two more years — or a nice suntan.

Trade possibilities: A no-brainer — defensive end Jason Taylor. The two sides had trade talk earlier this off-season, but the Packers backed off because of the belief Gbaja-Biamila can notch his first double-digit sack total since 2004.
