Flacco To Start Second Consecutive Game Against Texans

Filed under: Ravens, AFC NorthYou are about to read a sentence that probably hasn’t been published for a long time when discussing the Baltimore Ravens. The quarterback situation looks to be in pretty good hands.

Rookie Joe Flacco got to extend his stay for at least another weekend as Ravens starter after an impressive first game against Cincinnati, that included 15 of 29 for 129 and added a 38-yard touchdown dash, the longest run in NFL history by a quarterback in his first start.
“I think he had already earned a lot of confidence because of the way he had conducted himself and the way he prepared,” head coach John Harbaugh said. “Our guys were not surprised by the way he handled himself. But certainly by winning the football game, the players were excited for him.”
Obviously getting super excited about a win against the atrocious looking Bengals isn’t going to define your season, but it is a small step for a position the Ravens have always struggled with. The defense looked a lot tougher and quicker than some thought would come from an aging unit and if this team can continue to scrap out victories as it is so prone to do, maybe it won’t be as bad as expected. Also, thinking about Ray Lewis dogging a guy that went to school at the University of Delaware is pure daydreaming comedy.Continue Reading
